I admit, had no idea what I was buying nor did the seller know what they were selling. The price was right $18, so I went and bought. Did a quick search for "Pegasus" reverse and I believe I purchased my first Quinarius.

If any of you have anything to add or my attribution is incorrect, let me know.

Thanks, good deal it was. Not the highest quality, but certainly worth it. So now I own 1/2 a denarius. Wikipedia says "The coin was produced sporadically until the 3rd century." Never knew that.

The quinarius was created about 210BC as a half denarius , with the mark V = 5 asses ( denarius = 10 asses ) . The type was on the obverse the head of Roma , on the reverse Dioscuri riding to right . This was a common type for the denarius , the quinarius ans the sestertius .The production of the denarius fractions stopped at the end of the third century, excepted two defferent quinarii known of the first decades of the second century .Quinarii reappeared around 100 BC with the lex Clodia, legalizing the equation of the old victoriatus (three-quarter denarius , last known struck about 170 Bc) with the quinarius. This quinriuq bore the type of the victoriatus with the Victory reverse .Quinarii were struck during the Social Wars and the Civil Wars. The production stopped at the end of the 3th century . albert

Albert thank you for the lesson

Did a search on Vcoins, looks like they are not cheap either.
