I can read the date, 1918. It reminds me of Russia, or maybe, more specifically, South Russia or one of those "other" Russia places that are in the Specialized catalog. I can't find it though.

What you have is a 1918 Exchange Tokens Issue from the Terek Republic. The Pick # for it should be S529.

And I think it is way passed CU. It look PQ to me

G'day,
never heard of "Terek Republic", so I looked it up. Here's what Wikipedia says:
"Terek Soviet Republic (Терская Советская Республика) (March, 1918 — February, 1919) was created within the RSFSR on the territory of the Terek Oblast. Its capital was Pyatigorsk, then Vladikavkaz. After July 1918 it was part of the North Caucasian Soviet Republic."

The benefits of our hobby: I've learned a bit of history, and now I'll have to learn some geography too.

Grading: I've heard it said that some notes can be raised a grade by a trip through an automatic washing machine. Apparently the trick is to NOT over-do the bleach.
You might get this one up to A-Unc-V ...
V=ventilated

Thanks for the ID, I suspected it was one of those early Soviet republics (I've got a couple others somewhere). I'll have to add Terek Republic to my ever growing list of "places" I have coins or bills from. If the republic lasted less than a year, how could this thing look so poor?
