I am watching youtube chanel and have seen some of the experts talk about high grad coins that without mint errors still sell for high price at auction under PGGS grading. For ecample, 1982 small date MS68 sold for 3500.. is that true for those between 1959 up to 82 copper coins. I have to ask this cause I have bunch of them that I belive the quality about 62+ in Copper. Do we need to get grade by those companies in Order to sell at high price? Thanks for any opinions or information you can provide.

To be honest, I think some of it is caused by hype, plus when a coin gets graded, it looks much nicer and people want to pay more for it, because it's in a slab. Some coins do have high value in very high grades, but I'm not sure what dates they would be.

You don't necessarily have to get a high grade coin graded, but it does help in a way a little bit, and it will attract more buyers.

I don't have very much knowledge in that area, so other members, feel free to chime in and give your knowledge on this subject.

Do a little more research. You'll find out they are not just any coin missing a mint mark. Also note a price guide to see how the coins grade rises as it gets to the higher grade coins. Some double that last lower grade and some even more. Some years the quality produced just a few high grade coins. So more knowledge is needed. Certain years/certain mint marks missing/high grade coins are usually found in OBW rolls. To find a high grade coin in circulation just doesn't happen. Just finding a MS-65 coin is hard. A better coin that much harder yet. So it take knowledge as to what to look for. If these coins were easily found, all coin collectors would be rich. So don't get too dazzled with what they are saying.

People grade coins all the time. Some are just worth face value... Why do they throw their money away?

Those are some great points that your reply had Coop! One another note, finding high grade coins can be really challenging, since they can easily get banged up going on top of other coins in the hopper, at the U.S. Mint.
