I am not a collector of ancient coins, but came across this one for sale, and I think it looks pretty neat. Here is the seller's description.

"Sikyon Chimera. 360-330 BC. Silver hemidrachm of NE Peloponnesos, S Greece. 14-17mm. 2.65g. Chimera left, S-shape tail./ Dove flying left. GCV 2774, Cop. 57-8. Good F, bright silver. Ex M R Roberts collection, Sydney, Australia."

It's $85 net. Is this a reasonable price?
Thanks.

It's a popular type, but way too high, IMO. You could probably find a comparable specimen for like $20-30 on ebay from a reputable dealer.

I agree based on condition the price is high.

Jimbucks:
I can help you with the provenance.

I know M.R. (Bob) Roberts personally.
I have never known him to sell a dud coin. Ever.
He conducted public postal auctions. Your coin must have come out of one of these auctions.

He was a contributor to the Krause Standard Catalog of World Coins. His name can be found in the contributor list of earlier editions.

He is now quite an old guy, mostly retired from the numismatics business.
We shared an interest in classic cars. He had a Rolls Royce Silver shadow 11, I had a Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 (litre).
In my early collecting days, of the 1970's, I acquired perhaps more than 50% of my collection through his business.
