I just picked up a Celestron mircoscope. https://www.celestron.com/products/...croscope-proI cherry picked this one a while back because I thought it was a Large H. The positive identification is much more interesting From Charlton: From a slight angle captures the lower serif better. This is through a layer of plastic.

Tops wrong, not it. Left looks like a hit, the right side is different.

Looks like damage to me. I can see pushed over and flattened metal on the "H".
Errers and Varietys.

Dont listen to them...yours IS an H over H (ignoring the little ding on the top left...it's the top right that confirms it)... Well done.. By the way...there are at least two different H over H varieties for the 1903H...maybe even more...keep hunting... they are tricky to see or find so you'll need AU or MS examples but they are out there...and the microscope is definitely a necessary tool...I invested in a high end microscope a while back...set me back some $200-$300 on ebay...worth every penny...

Don't listen to him.....if it can't be discerned by a 4x loupe nobody is going to certify it!
The only H/H that matters is the type in Charlton's, usually easily visible through a 4x loupe.
The H was punched into each individual die used and thus there are as many varieties as dies used. You just need a good microscope, some good coins and plenty of time to discern them. If your collecting interest includes identifying all die varieties, then maybe you have something there. Otherwise if it's not a variety listed in Charlton's or attributed by the TPGs you've got nothing special

I don't see it, but I don't have any experience with this specific variety. I assume there must be other die markers to confirm an SH/H example other than the mintmark itself.

WOW...talk about having it backwards...
How can I put it politely...if it shows up in Charlton's - you are already about 20 years behind...
Or to put it differently...it would take Charlton's hundreds of years to catch up to where variety knowledge is TODAY
Just ignore the nonsense

Just a tip; you need to practice with your new scope. I have a Celestron 44304, and it takes a lot of trial and error. The big problem is the lights on board. I had to block off all but one,and then put a filter on that one. John1

The markers of the varierty is the closed top of the H and the angle on the inside of the top right column. The top left serif also shows the doubling and size profile shown in Charlton.
The bottom right doubled serifs have been worn together.
DBM - I see where you're coming from that most collectors only collect Charlton or Trends, so the prices outside of those varities don't involve significant premiums. But there are some collectors for minor varieties, And Charlton does get updated.

Also, the photos are a little washed out because I left it in the 2x2 and the microscope has LED lights, which reflected on the plastic. I'll try to take a better photo tonight.
