I am new to coin collecting but since my spouse is into it I am trying. I found this 2017 Iowa Coin and would like to know more about what I have.

I was only able to upload a printer version but will try using a different form of photo soon.

FIrst to the CCF

Your coin looks like it was struck through something, possibly grease.
A small struck through like that does not really add any premium to the coin.

Does NOT appear to be a strike through Looks to me like a good sized internal die break above the word IOWA. It is raised not incuse.

Wait now, is there supposed to be that chunk above the word Iowa? Looks very out of place to Meow.

You may be right Conder.
Looking at the second picture, it does appear raised.
If it was a die break though, would there not be others around?

It looks like a die chip on that area.

Cool, it is a die chip. A good sized one too. That is a nice find.

Much better picture Debra.
Ignore my hasty earlier diagnosis.
Looks like a die chip.

Very nice find and congratulations! That actually could qualify as a Interior Die Break, if it's 4mm or more. For now, we'll call it a huge Die Chip. It's a keeper. http://www.error-ref.com/die-chips/
