to the forum What a wonderful remembrance item from your grandfather. It seems he may have know a bit about this coin and it's inherent worth. Here's a link for the grading website NGC and it's listed value. Now in the real sense, this isn't what you would sell it for, I always think of it as for insurance purposes. But you do have a very low mintage silver coin. It appears to be in a natural state (LEAVE ALONE, DO NOT CLEAN!)and is around an XF40/45. Hope ya keep it to remember him by... https://www.NGCcoin.com/price-guide...duid-1371637

Thats a nice coin, I would grade it in low About Uncirculated, an NGC XF-45 graded example sold for $336 on Heritage in January of this year. But your coin has much better eye appeal than that one did so its likely worth more. https://coins.ha.com/itm/mecklenbur...ption-071515

Very little wear so AU would be a good grade.

That seems to be a very nice nice coin your Grandfather left you. The issues from Mecklenburg Strelitz are relatively scarce in grades up to Very Fine or so, and are much scarcer in anything approaching Extremely Fine. In Germany we would grade that coin at leat Almost Extremely Fine (fast vorzueglich) with a value of approximately) $1000. This is the type of coin which needs to be evaluated in hand.

Thank you for everyone's help. Should I get it graded by one of the grading companies, and if so, what at level? What would the cost be?

Nice piece, looks like around an XF- If grading, I would send to either PCGS or NGC- If it's the only piece you are getting graded, it may be worth finding a local dealer to submit, rather than paying the fees to join
