If we are looking at the first digit of the date it appears a little thicker than the rest. It could be a repunching, but I would have to see much better images to tell for sure what's going on. It could be a very common thing to have that repunching as well.

Thank you for the response; I have been waiting for months to get answers from the community. As to the images of the 1957, it's the best that my scanner can do.

You have a good eye to spot this in the date.
I took your photo in Photoshop to enlarge and sharpen:

Is-This-A-Repunch-Or-A-Double-Die?

If there was a repunched or doubled die, I might expect some doubled corners on the numbers, such as where the arrow points.

Here's an example of a doubled die, where there is a clear separation between the doubling:
