Came across this 2018P Jeff nickel with a similar condition to a post by Wendell of a 2017P coin. Commentors pretty much agreed on die chips for the cause. Wendell had a clump on the left side of the building. This year it has moved to the right side. My left side has a minor shadow.

I found one as well. Both sides have errors.

Maybe the die was not tempered correctly. It seems way to early for the die chips to start showing up on this die this soon?

No matter the specific cause, it seems we are getting some legit reports of die chip errors on 2018 nickels. Now we know where to look first.
