OK Here I be sitting in Doha waiting for the next crew boat to take me back out to the oil field. Just before I left home way back mid June I instigated a series of major house renovations. You know the usual stuff painting and having the carpet replaced with hardwood flooring. This of coarse involves packing away all ones knick knacks etc and storing them in the Garage. I thought I was being very smart as I moved the coin chest in the living room to the bedroom closet which was not part of the work scope. For the last two weeks my poor wife has been boxing stuff and moving it to the Garage. One pile for keepers and one pile for Garage sale fodder. It has come to her attention that I have way too many coins. Just about every draw has had some coins scattered around in it. It does not help that I also collect piggy banks and most are filled with unsorted dark side coins. I am beginning to suspect that mild disinterest that my wife had in my hobby is turning into something a little more sinister. I can't really blame her as I was supposed to be around to do most of the moving before the re modelers arrived. I guess what I am trying to say is its a very good idea to have your collection consolidated in a small area. But more importantly make sure you are around to deal with it if it needs moving. I can see I am going to have to dispose of a fairly large portion of my collection when I get home. This in itself does not bother me as my focus has shifted and narrowed considerably since I started hoarding/collecting. I just have this nagging feeling I don't think I will get anything like their full value if I sell them as a lot and I just don't have the time to break them down.

Well, the alternative is that her interest in coins will increase as a result of the project, and then your acquisition costs will double.

Just how attached to your wife? When she's gone, you have more room for coins. Either buy her something, or "sell" your coins and find some new hiding spots.

Ok, stupid question...What are "dark side" coins? I have seen this several times now, and still can't figure out what it refers to.

Dark side coins are those from other countries. In the USA, a coin from Australia or Great Britain is from the dark side, while coins from Canada are considered gray side.

I've never heard of gray side. I always thought that dark side meant any coin other than American.
