1995 D Double Die Penny? - Coin Community Forum

jenchamp25 New Member United States 29 Posts	Posted 07/29/2018 8:47 pm I'm a little confused about this coin. It looks like doubling but yet it doesn't. But when I looked it up it says that 1995 D penny should have doubling in IGWT, date, and mint mark and that 1995 P penny should have doubling in LIBERTY and IGWT. So can anyone help me and let me know if this would be doubling or what it is if it isn't. Thanks Jenny Report this Post to the Staff

It's Split Plate Doubling, caused by the Copper plating splitting, exposing the Zinc core. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 07/29/2018 8:55 pm Looks like the die was aging and stating to break down a bit. Also figure in coin damage on the 'B'. The 'E' looks like a bit of grease prevented the full strike there. Nothing to warrant a premium. Just striking, die wear and coin contact issues.
