 Coin was possibly cleaned (harshly). There are pits, nicks, dings, and fine scratches along with the tarnish and gunk. Funky splotching on the obverse patina. IMO whatever the grade, this would get a "details" qualifier, but I will let the experts weigh in.

Thanks for the reply! I'm fairly new to collecting and dont quite know how to identify a cleaned coin. I'm also new to this forum!

au53 cleaned and retoned. looks market acceptable and attractive to me.
