A little venting on my part as I wonder if this has happened to others.

Twice in the past year I have won coins on ebay and the sellers have said they shipped them, but then nothing.

The first coin was a British silver and the seller even sent me a tracking number. But the number never had any information about its location afterwards. After a number of emails the seller refunded my money. A while later I came across the same coin from the same seller. I emailed him asking what was going on, but didn't hear back.

Two weeks ago I won a 1910 Lincoln Cent and paid $3.50 for tracking postage. No tracking number appeared so I sent a message. The seller said that since the coin didn't sell for very much she just sent it first class (and, I would guess, either pocketed the extra postage money, or didn't send it at all and was waiting for me to contact here so she would refund my money). She refunded my costs right after that email saying the coin must have been lost. She lives in the same state I do. I figure it was most likely never sent.

I know there's nothing I can do, and, since I can't prove anything I can't leave negative feedback, but it is frustrating.

Had it happen a few times. But usually have to get my money when ebay steps in. I won a 1960 D small date over large date I'm dealing with right now as I paid 3.50 for shipping and it has shipped but nothing purchased it on the 14th. Opened a claim the guy said someone helped him out and shipped to the wrong customer. But no tracking so I don't know where it is said the guy he sent it to will mail it to me and he will refund my money but have yet to see either so waiting on ebay to step in I guess as I don't know if I will ever see my coin I purchased.

I suppose I am lucky that I only had a handful of packages never show. All of them were low cost items with free shipping, so the most I ever lost was like $5.

Once, I did have a seller sit on a package for an entire month. I opened a claim that I never got it, and it mysteriously showed up with tracking the next day... still took an extra 3 weeks to arrive from India, though.
Rest in Peace

Guess I'm fortunate, haven't had a purchase go missing yet. I do check sellers, especially ewwboy, too risky not too. I will take some chances on new sellers, but it's always been low cost items. As a seller, once had a tracked package to a CCF member go rogue, off the radar one day into transit. It finally showed up, body-bagged in cellophane because the weaklings at the PO dropped the 34lbs of wheat cents and split the box, destroying the tracking number! It did make it, was a learning experience, use strapping tape... 3 ways! No problems since. Oh, one letter returned because I transposed the address number, mail dummies couldn't figure it out... I used to when I carried mail!

It might be a way of not having to send a item for less then you wanted to sell. The buyer is happy to get there money back and you get to keep your item.

Also to be added is not getting a positive or negative feedback. I've bought 4 items and sold 1 item on ebay and haven't gotten and feedback yet.

But no postage mishaps for me as of yet. (knock on wood).

I've been pretty lucky so far, with only a few problems on ebay. Most of the time, the seller took care of it, and resolved it with no hassle.
