Hi Coin lovers,

I got a shapur I coin and I like to know if it is cast or authentic. The weight is 4.13 gram . I can not read pahlavi so I can not verify if the script is correct or not so I need help from experts in sassanian area. I appreciate your helps

The coin is genuine and is Gobl I/1. Nice coin.

Hi Peter , Thanks for comment . I got this in a local coin show . Is these dark spots on the coins horn silver? I see some scratches on the shapur face as if someone used sand paper on it do you think this was done to remove these horn silver and clean it? I wish they didn't do that way.

To my eyes, the dark surface coloration looks like tarnish that was not cleaned away like it has been on most of the coin. I would leave it "as-is" if it was in my collection.

I read in another forum where you broke off a piece of this coin and than glued it back together. Why would you do that? I realize it's your coin, but no collector would EVER do that. Sasanian coins are struck thin on a large flan and tend to remain in good condition. I just don't understand why you would do that after we told you it was a genuine coin.
