Started collecting
LWC when I found one in the cash register at the gas station I work at. An older customer asked what I was looking at and I showed him. He took out this odd thing and put it to his eye and looked at the coin through it. "That's worth about 20 cents. Nice find." He said. We started talking. He's been collecting over 40 years. I said I have collected as a kid and it slowly went away until he left and came back with a binder with wheats, an older Whitman slider book, 3 rolls of LWCs, and the odd thing I came to find as a loupe. A gift to me... BOOM! He had a padawan and I had a jedi master. Coin shows and clubs with him every time I was able. Taught me about error and varities. Coin roll hunting for more than just silver. Sadly he passed away last year and I find myself wandering aimlessly when I got to a slow point on my
LWC collection. LCS guy suggested a 20th century type set. He had another blue whitman slider but some off and covered lettering. $7 later and 40 minutes later I was at home filling holes. I like toners and woody LWCs. Collected a lot I dont need and have been selling a bit at my job. Slowly working on my newest love of collecting and spreading the hobby as a retirement income. I know I'm long winded but not many collectors around to chat with. Glad to be here and would be great to eventually find my own padawan to pass the midiclorians to. Any questions or statements... post or message. Great being here and thanks for the coincommunity.
