Curious if anyone knows of 1950 "Nickel" pennies?
Just found this in a pile I got from my grandfather, and after doing a search here and Google in general, I can find nothing on it.

Any ideas?

More likely than not it was plated after it left the mint.
Highschool science class experiment, etc

Plated or possibly treated with Mercury. I might wear gloves when handling it until you know which one for sure.

Those green spots may be the copper, under the plating, starting to corrode.

Also those places on the rim looks like it may have been a jewelry piece or in some kind of bezel

To CCF! It has been definitely plated with something. It's Post Strike Damage (it happened after it left the Canadian Mint).
