So basically I've read some reports saying a 1983 P Quarter sold for around 2k and they would not say why. I've checked other websites and they have said other things. Is it an error? Idk but could someone please tell me what is so special about this coin?

An MS67 one sold for that much, no others are graded higher.. PCGS says they have a population of 20 at MS67

Yours is not high grade enough to be worth $2,000. The example posted by you is worth face value.

There was a very low mintage of 83's from both mints which also coencided with the Arcade craze during the 80's along with payphones, parking meters etc. so it's very hard to find them in high grade. A MS-67 is a pretty high grade for any coin let alone one that there wasn't a lot of to begin with and which was in use during this time period.
