Looks like your white balance might be a bit off? Nickels usually tone a golden yellow or a blue.

Same here. Actually, all toning is due to environmental exposure of some kind.

Coin that have spent a lot of time in an industrial area tend to turn yellow in color in time because of sulfur in the air. If that is the color you are seeing?
