Received advance notice about the "last" Superman "coin" being produced this decade (is that the next 10 years, or the decade from 2010 to 2020?). $100 FV 157.6g statue / 157.05g coin (5oz coin, 5oz statue) 65.25mm 1000 mintage $1199.95 Statue is "gold plated". Looks interesting, but... 1) Not a "coin" 2) I'm totally "Superman-ed out" Anyone pulling the trigger? Edit: On second review, the execution really, really reminds me of the many recent "gimmick" sculpture coins: Majestic Canadian Animals series, Carousel Coin. It's "neat", but just isn't a "coin" to me. Edited by Wandering Eskimo 08/14/2018 9:53 pm

Maybe a new marketing tactic from the RCM...? "The Last XYZ Coin Ever Produced"! For me it is the ultimate "anti-collector" position: The end of a series.

It does look great; however, it does remind me of the "Bromberg" sculpture coins.
EDIT: Just received SELL OUT ALERT.

@jimper ......and yet RCM sends out a "sell out" alert. Who knows maybe they are in cahoots with Bromberg?

They usually send sell out alerts when it's at 75% sold out. So there might still be 250 pieces left. I'm sure Steve Bromberg has his fair share to sell on The Coin Show on TSC. Probably 200 or 300 pieces. Imo

@jimper If I had to choose which 10 ounce to purchase, it would be the 2018 The Bronze Age of DC Comics (Justice League) shield which would go nicely with my 10 ounce Superman shield. Just too much coming from RCM lately .....

@New1954
I also have both 10 oz pieces as well, but for me this is a must have to complete a three piece set and will show nicely in my display case with the Superman sculpture in between the two shields.

Totally agree with you here... this would complete the collection, for sure! I didn't purchase either shield, and I'm really on the fence with the statue. I like the concept, but the root of my uncertainty is that it's simply not a "coin". When I look at the premium paid for the silver sculpture, and compare that to the pricing of some of the artistic poured silver pieces out there, I just can't reconcile the difference. I know I'm talking about two different worlds here - NCLT versus poured silver, but the lines are really blurring with some of the RCM sculpture pieces... 90% sold out, as of this AM.

I just noticed that The Justice League 10 ounce shield as well as the new 10 ounce superman sculpture, neither have custom packaging showing whereas all the other Superman/Batman issues all did. What's up with that?

It is officially sold out at the RCM. I'm sure that the coin show on TSC will have them for sale. Don't panic if you didn't get one.

Since it is sold out, the point is moot, however, if I was going to dump $1,100 on 10 oz of Silver, recognizing I have $200 of intrinsic value, I would be looking at the Angel of Victory or the Keepers of Parliament set.
There are plenty of sources of Superhero or pop culture memorabilia, not all have the queen's head on them and that can often lead to better quality results for a more affordable price.
This one is a pass for me. If I revise my opinion later, I will pick it up at auction in 3-5 yrs for $200-$300.

Might be we are on the "path of the 2013 Gold Superman coin": From ignorance to "meh" and to desire. It sold out from RCM, the people voting with the wallets. So what, now we will not have "hot" The Last Superman Coin by RCM? Canada Post probably will not order it, so we have to check out dealers...

Was released last week for Master club members and sold out quickly. Look in the sold out section on the RCM site. Imo I believe that Steve Bromberg got the majority of them to sell on the coin show on TSC.

Another RCM hit? UFO coin, Meteorite, Carousel and now Superman Statue... On the latest for the Superman topic news, New Zealand Mint issued as well Superman Statue, but they didn't add denomination.
