Hi. I have several Indian Head pennies I would like to sell on ebay. I have done my homework - checked book values and ebay prices for sold items. I am trying to decide which format to use. I sold my Canadian coins using buy it now because of the low number of views they were getting. Are there enough buyers for US coins to use auction? I just don't want to see a $10 coin go for $0.99! Any and all advice welcomed! TIA!

IMO, it takes only two interested buyers to drive the price at auction. If you just want to sell them quickly and trust you'll get a reasonable price, put them on auction. If you're willing to wait a while for the price you really want to get, use "buy it now" with "make an offer". You can always lower your prices next round if you want to.

Use the auction format but put a reasonable starting price to start the auction. You don't have to start it at .99. Good luck, however you decide to go.

Fixed price. The auctions have to be 5 days or longer or they charge you more and a lot of people lose interest having to wait that long when there's other BIN listings of similar items. A lot of times with ebay the auction hunters are just looking for things they would consider to be a deal and its hard for sellers without a following to successfully do auctions there especially this time of year.

If you just want to get rid of them...auction. If you want a good price, BIN with Best Offer.

Thanks for the helpful advice. Seems like demand is also a very important factor.
