Now I know this is kinda out there and way off in the future, but who would want the online forum synced with an app? That way new interactive features could be added and be more mobile friendly. Just trying to figure what others think about it.

IMO, for a site like this, apps are overkill and defeat the purpose. You'd have to develop at least two versions of the app (iOS and Android) and make sure they work on all varieties of phones and tablets. You'd have to deal with both app stores, and the entire process would open possible security issues because of the new access points. I doubt this site can justify that kind of overhead and exposure.

On the user side, we'd lose a lot of real estate (what you can see on the screen) which would make some of these threads hard to follow (responses can get pretty long) and you wouldn't be able to see some of the pictures as well. I imagine some of the "interactive features" you're talking about are things like "Like" and "Follow", both of which would reduce engagement. With the smaller screen, engagement would be reduced further because we'd be writing shorter posts. Which is more helpful: an Amazon review that's 200 words, well thought out, and explains the pros and cons of the item, or a review that just says "I loved it"? I guarantee you the latter of those was written on a phone.

I can see why some people want it, but big screens and keyboards still exist for a reason. I like to think this site is one of them.

Of course it would be great.

I understand the owners of the are pretty burdened just keeping all of us happy with the desktop version, so I'll be grateful for what I get :) THANK you for making this place what it is!

That's one heck of a very good and well thought out question you've asked! It's sounds like a good idea, but I think it would be too much work and money to do that unfortunately. Although, it would be very cool though!

As alpha pointed out there would be way too much for the owner involved to do that and keep up with it. And his points on the impact to the user involvement are very good as well.

For me, I would not use an app. I try to stay off my phone as much as possible. Disconnecting is a good thing I have found.

If you turn your phone sideways and pinch the size a little, the site is actually pretty functional on a phone and I post using my iPad almost exclusively and it works great. Creating a phone app would be a huge undertaking for Bobby with limited benefit i. my opinion.

I like using the mobile site just fine. I prefer that over an app.

A good question indeed. But miles away from the right question.

The right question would be....

Who would want to pay for a CCF App?
