Recent purchase. Your thoughts? Has some blue-ish toning on the edge as well (not shown in the pics)

I know nothing about these, but is it normal for them to look all grainy?

It's got enough value if the surfaces are original to submit it to a TPG.
I'm uncomfortable with the lack of any obvious toning.

Hey John1, it's an artifact of my phone camera.

Kanga, I do believe this piece may have been dipped. However, mostly I'm concerned about the marks on the face.

Truly unusual looking surfaces - very grainy looking which I agree could be your photograph - but also apparently lacking the original blazing luster or subsequent toning these are know for.

Details suggest an authentic MS range coin ... fields are generally clean although the prime focal point of the obverse portrait cheek has taken some significant hits - which will hold the coin back in grade.

Assuming the surface 'issues' are attributed to the OP photography - then I'm in at MS63.

The marks will probably knock it down into the upper AU range.
Whether it gets the dreaded "details" label depend upon what the graders think is the cause of those marks, bag or handling.

I really can't tell much of anything about the surfaces from these pics, much less try to grade it.
