I know coop said some people still think it is but you said you were gonna check in on it and see what the final decision was. Just wondering if you did.

It sure does look like a doubled eyelid, but this is very controversial, since some experts think it's a Doubled Die Obverse, while other experts think it's nothing more than a well placed Die Gouge.

Some will say yes, some will say no.

It is WDDO-002:

It is debated on whether it is a true doubled die or a die gouge. Wexler still lists it as a doubled die. CONECA removed it from its listings. Coppercoins says it is a die gouge. I lean towards die gouge.

I have one of these too although, typical of most zinc pennies, it's in rough shape.
Rest in Peace

As I first looked at the OP's pix, I was thinking gouge. It just isn't like any other DDO eyelid and it's isn't quite the same right ending shape of the lid, it's like a reversed lid which can't happen.

Doesn't look the same. But the OP's coin looks like it may have been over polished?

It maybe die chipping. Just finding 6 examples on PCGS and two are showing some die chipping on that area.

This could probably qualify as a Unidentified Fascinating Oddity (UFO) on John Wexler's website, since it's still very controversial.
