The thickness is there though, I'm not too great at taking pictures of the coins yet. I saw a link on here a while back, that helps describe the best way to photograph with a usb microscope. unfortunately I've lost the page.

Nope, not a Doubled Die. It's Machine Doubling.

So, in order for it to be a true double die the doubling has to be separated by a strike indention of the same die strike?

Depends. Sometimes it happens that way on the multi hubbed dies in the past. Or now with the single squeeze dies, they look like over inflated devices.
Can look like this:

Doubled die will show an enlargement of the devices. Machine Doubling usually reduces the normal sized devices. But MD can also happen on doubled dies. MD is caused by the machine. A doubled die is from the doubling that is on the die from when the die was created.
Machine Doubling:

Hub doubling:

Machine Doubling reduces the size of the devices, hub doubling enlarges the size of the devices. We've all used a rubber stamp. What happens when the stamp is used twice not exactly over each stamp? The devices are enlarged. Same with the hubbing of a die when it is made.
Rest in Peace

DW, SIZE is the key. Take a look at the pix of the 001 and the lower leg of the L in LIBERTY. See how WIDE the device is, this shows the two impressions. On yours, the device has been sheared down to be SMALLER in size, not reall width but the height has been reduced.

Hub doubling is where when making the master hub die, the working hub dies used one on top of the otter to add the details was move, rotated. The resultant device shows these two hubs used. It is the PRODUCT of die manufacture. MD in contrast is PRODUCT of a strike problem of die bounce. Like a hammer hitting a nail, it will bounce, doesn't always land in same spot again. Physics/release of energy.
