I was wondering if anyone has any reference material on the different varieties on the newfoundland 5 cents pieces in the 1940's? I am aware that there are different varieties but not sure what they are and my coin books tell me nothing.

thanks

G'day, if anyone has any Newfoundland resources, I'd be pleased to know which denominations appeared bearing date 1887.
I'm putting together a set of Imperial coins of Queen Victoria's Jubilee year.

well, in the coin books I have it seems that there aren't any coin denominations for 1887. Most went straight from 1885-1888 none in between. Maybe someone else will know something that I don't.

... that leaves a gap in my planned collection.
Hmmmmpf ...
thankyou, I'll have a little quiet introspection until I come up with a solution to this dilemma.

I'd bet you could get one of the Chinese counterfeiters to make you some!

Charest's book has varieties listed for the 5 cent coin in the 40's.

1941, 1942 and 1947 had wide/narrow date varieties
1944 had high 44 with low C, and low 44 with both high/low C

well, thank you for the info! Now I just have to figure out if I have any of those. Do you know if there is a site that has pictures of those differences?
