Hello, I have a 1940 S with a doubling on the right sides of the #1 and #9 . and the mint mark appears as a 8. Is there any value to this coin. Thanks much
Looking to hard on the areas that show Machine Doubling. Look at the centers of the devices for spread on the devices: Variety Vista 1940 DDO-002 Strong extra thickness on all lettering and date. http://www.varietyvista.com/01a%20L...0PDDO002.htm Check out the date. Spread means the devices are enlarged. On your coin you looking at the edge of the devices where all the Machine Doubling happens.
I have seen many machine doubled coins with a mirror type image , This cent has a clear defined edge on the one and nine Thanks. here is another image head on center
