I picked up three magazines a few weeks back that dealt with coins: Coin Age, Coin Value and Coins Magazine. They all seem to have pretty decent articles and value lists, although some value lists are better than others. Does anyone out there subscribe to any of these monthly periodicals? Are there some that are better than others, in your opinion?

I use Coin Values and Coins for the articles mainly. Coins lists uncirculated rolls, commemorative sets, and sometimes Canadian prices , while Coin Values gives more grades for the values and is essentially my guide for modern, high-grade coins (MS-65 to MS-68 Lincolns through Sacs).

I have a subscription for Coin World and as a result I get the Coin Values as well. I feel prices in the coin values mag is not so accurate.

I suggest just using the Krause standard catalogs for prices and getting a subscription to The Numismatist.

I subscribe to Coin World/Values but also picked up Coins, Coin Prices and COINage at the newstand. I think COINage is a good read as well.

The only one I buy regularly is Canadian Coin News.

I have a subscription to Numismatic News, a weekly publication with articles, auction notes, Mint statistics, a monthly price guide, free classified listings, etc.

I think that the appropriate mag for you is just based on what exactly you are looking for in a publication.

Note that Coins, Coin Values & Coin Prices are mostly price guides with few articles.

The 'Australiasian Coin and Banknote Magazine' is appropiate if you live on this side of the globe. There are others in this club remember. It's a darksider magazine that some of you may like and/or enjoy to subscribe to. Very informative. regards.

The only Coin Magazine that I subscribe to is called Worldwide Coins. It's a newish publication by Coin World, I believe. Interesting articles on World Coins.

I'm very happy with CoinAge. The historical articles are extremely well done, and they're not afraid to call a spade a spade at times - in other words, what's wrong at the mint this week.

The Numismatist and Coin World and Coin Values. If I were to buy coins on a regular basis I would subscribe to Grey sheet which is I believe is primarily a realistic price guide.

Many of the magazines listed so far are all pretty good. But here is something to always remember. If you live in an area where crime is rather on the common side, you may not want to have anything sent to you in the mail that would tip off anyone as to what you have. In some areas such coin magazines will not fit into a mail box and are left sticking out as an advertisement for a not so honest person. Also, some mail people may not be the most honest people either. Other such tip off magazines are for guns, knives, swords, etc. Of course if you live in an area where there is no or little crime, no problem. Unfortunately where I live many have found out the hard way that advertising anything of value is just not smart.
