Hi. New to the site. I have a 1909 S VDB that was part of my father's estate. There is no certification with the coin and by the looks of it, it doesn't look like it's uncirculated, but clearly the coin has the correct markings. I want to try to sell it, but I'm worried about it being "raw" and don't know the best route to take. In other words, is it worth my joining a coin certification organization just for this one item? How much more would it be worth if it were certified? Any light on this would be appreciated. Matthew

Welcome to the Forum!

Any way of displaying pictures of the coin cause we Love pics

Normally you either need a membership or multiple coins at once to be able to have them graded. If you can find a member of PCGS they normally can send it off for you when they send all their other coins.

It'd be foolish to sell it without having it certified IMO. If you have any local coin shops, you can usually pass it to them for grading.

Try ANACS. No membership or clubs to join and they are widely respected.

Do they still require 3-5 coins being submitted at once? I think it's 5 but I can't remember

Minimum is on the economy tier, I think.

I agree about taking it to a near by dealer and have them submit it for you. The only way I would submit the coin to ANACS is if it was a problem coin (if you aren't sure a good dealer should be able to help identify this for you also) because the price difference between what you would get when sold in a PCGS slab compared to a ANACS slab would definately be worth the trouble to find a dealer to send it off for you
