Crazyb0 Rest in Peace 10197 Posts	Posted 08/30/2018 01:11 am Coop gave a good explanation the other day. The mint was having trouble with zinc dust, not being rinsed off or getting stuck on the zinc blank before plating. This then is the cause of the corrosive expansion of gas bubbles trapped in between the copper plate and zinc core. We call it zinc Rot, or zinc zits, nothing but corroding/expanding zinc dust under there. Report this Post to the Staff
coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 08/30/2018 3:28 pm At one time we called it orange rind look. But when you look at an orange, it is just the opposite. Orange rind had dimples on the surface, while the plating bumps are raised. Report this Post to the Staff
