So I apologize in advance for my ignorance in coins. I have just found this resource and will be using it for several coins I had passed down to me. But for today, I found this in my husband's change. As you can see the edge is smooth and there is a pronounced ridge on the front side. Just curious if it is rare, worth something, or useless. Any advice is highly appreciated.

To CCF! That's Post Strike Damage (it happened after it left the U.S. Mint). It might be a spooned coin.

Again, I am a brand new learner here. But if it left the mint normal, wouldn't it have the lines on the sides? And I have never seen a coin with such a pronounced ridge on the front. This looks as though the sides have never been stamped, not rubbed smooth.

Here's how it's done. Spooning starts at 3:35 in the video. It's Post Strike Damage, not an error.
