Just a damaged coin. The reverse has a bulge, so that indicates Post Strike Damage (meaning it happened after it left the U.S. Mint). This one is a spender.

well they do make copper alloy brazing rod - may be a drop of copper "braze" as it looks like the reverse was also effected from the heat.

Oh, so ya'll were going from the reverse OUT the obverse - I saw it backwards - darn dyslexia! Nothing I can do about it! Been nice if "newcoin" would describe the coin in question instead of just saying "What do you think"?

To me it appears that the punched in area in the obverse. But the reverse is pressed inwards. The bulging area is on the obverse. Note the cracks on the plating on the reverse area around the bulge. PSD. Never seen this before.
