I posted this coin on the Modern US page, giving evidence as to why it may be a matte proof here: http://goccf.com/t/323032It's at NGC now and I was wondering what grade it may receive. The obverse is much better than the reverse so I really have no idea what grade to expect. What do you think?

A grade of 66 would not surprise me. Remarkable coin.

Only a few very tiny issues should not take away from a 66, I'm in .

Did you get bad news from the grading service?
More details please as to exactly what went wrong.
I'm guessing that in the grading service's opinion your coin did not have original surfaces and may have been cleaned.
