His name is mbarrcoins and he seems to sell tons of bank notes everyday in near mint state or with little flaws. I was wondering if his stuff was legit or not? I dont know how to tell the difference between an altered/fake or legit bank note.

I've never purchased anything from M Barr Coins, but they appear to be a high volume seller (currently over 13,000 items for sale) with predominatly positive feedback (over 100,000 feedback ratings in the past 12 months w/ 99.8% positive).

I wouldn't say they have a "ton" of uncirculated US currency for sale. Currently, they have 25 notes for auction (none for BIN) that they indicate are uncirculated (7 PMG graded, 2 BEP uncut 4 note sheets, 16 raw late series silver certificates). The photos of the few raw notes that I looked at appeared to be uncirculated notes to me. The photos of the few circulated notes that I looked at clearly showed folds, creases, stains, graffiti, etc. so it didn't look like they were trying to pass them off as uncirculated or in better condition than the photo showed.

Is there a particular note that you're wondering about?

EDIT: They do have more uncirculated notes than first indicated. Some of their "not specified" notes are actually TPG graded uncirculated notes as well.

Good research. Agree the guy comes off pretty well, so without a specific note to look at, there's no sense in speculating.

I frequent a few auction sites, but on one site about 50% of the time their coins are coming from M Barr Coins. They seem good.

I've purchased a significant amount from MBarr...have two packages on their way. But please disregard what I say and refrain from bidding as I do not want the competition. It's OK to bid if you just bid on the coins and leave the banknotes to me.

I bought from M Barr recently and it was a very pleasant experience. They are on my saved sellers list and I will buy from them again if something comes up that fills a hole.

They are on my saved sellers list as well. I would not have any worries buying from this seller.

I really wasn't sure what he was talking about, but I knew it wasn't currency (rectanglish) so he's OK to bid.

For you, it fills a slot maybe.

BTW, I am more of a BIN guy. So far I have only bid on one auction and lost.

I am new here, but I have has some experience with M Barr. I have purchased 3 items, 2 of which I ordered a few minutes ago. The first coin I got through ebay, and it was a 1922 Peace dollar. I won it in an auction, and was very pleased with it. The two most recent orders I made were directly from their website. Here, I had to pay the flat rate of shipping: $5. So I just bought 2 Walking Liberty half dollars, in XF condition. I also bought 2 Franklin halves. Once I get them, in about a week or so, I will update this posting!
