Hi All! I really don't know much about this coin except I purchased it for the grapes image many years ago, but I am starting to see flecks of metal flaking off and suspect it may be doomed.

I was wondering if anyone has saved their coins by ambering them in plastic like the paper weights from the '60s or 70s? This is the second roman coin that appears to be dying on me...the first crumbled as I was transferring it to a new holder.

If yes, any recommendations on the resin/amber type kits?

Thanks!

I don't think anyone here would equate "ambering" the coin with "saving" it. Not sure this is a case of BD - at least I don't see the telltale pits filled with green powder. I wonder if waxing would help decrease the lamination issues. Curious to see what others with more conservation experience have to say. It's a nice coin - for comparison: http://www.forumancientcoins.com/ca...sp?zpg=15703

I hope you can halt the flaking.
