Every so often I see a coin that's been stickered. The coins range from pennies to silver dollars, the stickers range from simple advertisements to more eye-catching ones. Doubtlessly, some are common and others, rare.

I'd like to buy a few for type-collecting purposes, but I do not readily see price guides or readily-available valuations out there. Does anybody have any advice on how to reasonably price such things?

To most numismatists, those coins are considered damaged unless the "sticker" was applied by a mint like the U.S. or Canada might do.

I've seen them around, mostly on silver dollars...big thing in the 50'/60's...really a specialty collecting area. Sometimes you see $1/$2 notes in cellophane wrap with advertising on it.

Likely an area that you pay what you feel comfortable with.

There is/was a writer for Numismatic News that wrote about stickered or wrapped coins/notes he acquires at shows he attends. I can't think of his name at the moment.

I think his name is Cliff Mishler. Overtime he travels around for NN to the shows he give a whole litany of his travels and many times he shows the advertising coins he's picked up.
