I have been looking at PR70 DCam PCGS clad quarters on ebay. I know that they are a lot more than the 69s and are not advisable in that sense. But I like them. However, I've seen a few in person that have haze. But I figure the somewhat older dates might be safer in that regard. Still, I know pictures lie.

My question: would you advise this type of purchase only be done in person?

One little issue and it ain't a 70 anymore. Remember grading is a subjective occupation, especially in the MS grades.

That will be tough. One small issue can degrade it to PR-69 or lower.

I wouldn't limit it just to that. ebay will very likely be your best source for that type of material and limiting it to in person would very likely just make it more expensive and harder to find.

It all depends on how fast you want to collect. The reason for the high prices is that there simply are fewer PF70DCAMs than PF69DCAMs out there.

If you limit yourself to local shows and coin shops it may take quite a while. You might want to identify the local collection buyer(s) (every region has one or two) and give them a want list along with the statement you're going to be picky. Then every month or two they'll likely have something for you at the show/shop.

Always with coins see them in person before buying.
