Wow Dawson City sure over played this find. In Northern California a find like that would just bring a smile and then into the jar they go.

That is why you should never tell an archeologist if you find anything.

I'd like to get a better list of the dates and mint marks of all those.

I can see a nice 1899 50 cent.
Be it a small or large 9, it is still probably worth more
than the estimaated value of all the coins.

I am suspicious that this cache dates from the Klondike gold rush.

The coins are too worn.

Is it possible for a Barber Half to wear down to VG condition in a year or two (there is a pretty worn 1899 in that mix, and an 1898 that's not much better. Not to mentiomn the degree of patination)? I never got to observe the wear rate of those designs, but I did get to observe the wear rate of Walking Liberty halves, as I was picking them out of circulation as a kid in the 1960s.

As for value, if there is an 1896S Barber half (and the likelihood of S mintmarks should be higher out there), that's worth a few bucks in even in that grade.

I agree with tdziemia that the overall condition of the coins is not consistent with a Klondike Gold Rush attribution (the Klondike Gold Rush started in 1896 or thereabouts.)
