I got this quarter back at the store some years back. It was rattling around in my hand and I noticed how loose it was. It only weighs 4.7 grams.

Just a guess but someone messing around with some kind of CNC machine or something?

I know. It's really weird. It didn't come apart like that until I got to looking at it. Before that it was intact...but loose.

Not the Magician's coin that we normally see where there are two heads or two tales or even two denominations. Rather, I think that it might be use in a Magician's coin piercing trick, such as this one:
