I looked in the coin facts. I see two listings for 1968 quarter One is .50 silver and one is not. Is this correct or did I misunderstand the info?

There were silver and nickel versions of the 1968 quarter and dime.

in the usa the 1968 can be either 40% silver, or 90% silver if it is the proof version, if it has the s mint mark it is probably the 90% proof version.. if you can load a photo of both sides, we can tell you for 100%.

in canada the 1968 is 50% silver, if it doesn't stick to a magnet, if it sticks to a magnet it is the nickel version..

No, all the 1968 quarters, silver and nickel, were struck in Canada.
All 1968 silver dimes were minted at Ottawa, about half of the nickel dimes were struck in Philadelphia.
There are no mintmarks on any Canadian coins from 1908-1998.

This previous thread made reference to a CCN article back in 2011 claiming that Philadelphia silver 1968 dimes existed.

Thanks for the info about the magnet. So the 68 quarter is Canadian - nickel. I guess a magnet is a useful tool for coin collecting in Canada.

A magnet is helpful when coin collecting in many countries.

What is the "correct" way to use the magnet at a coin show? Do coin collectors get mad if you stick it directly on their coins - like I did in the photo?
