Earlier today, the US Mint (USM) released its 2018 Proof Palladium Eagle coin. The one-ounce coin went on sale at Noon (Eastern) and was marked as "Unavailable" by 12:06pm - it took just 6 minutes for the maximum mintage of 15,000 coins to be sold. It should be noted, the USM doesn't have any type of member's club that offers early purchase opportunities - everyone, including dealers, gets access to new coins at the same time.

My order was placed at 12:02pm. I received my confirmation email at 12:33pm. This evening at 7:23pm I received a message stating that the coin had been shipped; checking its tracking info a few minutes ago, I see that it is already in transit and will arrive on Monday by COB. This is not the first time I have experienced such fast order processing by the USM. In fact, it is fairly commonplace.

In comparison, I have never experienced an equivalent order processing timeline from the RCM. I don't need such fast turnaround, but it is impressive to see it in action. The RCM should take note of such processing times and strive to match them! If they ever can, I will certainly be impressed!

Well the US Mint did upgrade it's computer system recently didn't it, going from Windows7 to Windows10...the RCM is still on Win3.1 isn't it?

That is really quick on a sell out. But efficient, yes indeed.

Nice info, thank you for sharing, Commems.

When the RCM will learn again, how to strike such great traditional coins, maybe again we will see sold-outs for coins with mintage of 10.000+

Very impressive...
Mintage 15.000
Price USD 1,387.50

RCM will not be able to sell CAD 100 priced coins with such mintage.

Such fast shipping (not immediate, but fast), I've experienced with some of circulation packs of commemorative Loonies or quarters.

Now Crazyb0, be nice, even if It's true.
At least the RCM doesn't use their dies until they become
deteriorated and have enough sense to use steel cores
instead of zinc that rots.
So they do have some good points.

Some of our customers still use DOS 6.2.
