No, it is not counterfeit. Perhaps polished or plated, but not counterfeit.

Authentic - cleaned, likely polished. Yes - this is a 1936 Buffalo nickel - alas likely little numismatic value.

I should hope even in China they wouldn't waste time counterfeiting a Nickel. Yes yours is just highly cleaned.

I'm no Buffalo nickel expert but I would guess it's probably worth 50 cents to a dollar. Unfortunately when someone cleans a coin like this, it loses most of its value. Anytime you see a coin with some wear but still looks shiny, it's likely cleaned or polished. Hopefully you didn't pay too much for it and it's a cheap lesson learned.
