Okay E&V, here is one for you (with tons of die markers). I found this about a week ago and haven't tried to look it up, but it doesn't look like any in particular that I have seen so far. And for that matter, it doesn't actually look very good at all with all those black spots, but maybe some Verdi-care or something will help out if I decide to try and spritz it up a bit.

1983 Lincoln Memorial cent doubled die - to be determined

It looks like WDDO-005 on Wexler. Reverse Stage A marker states a die crack from the lower right Memorial to the rim, just like this coin has.

It could be WDDO-005 on doubleddie.com. It looks like the closest match. Check for all the obverse and reverse die markers. If it is WDDO-005, then it a "Best Of " variety. http://doubleddie.com/828823.html

Wow you guys have great eyesight. I see the die crack but don't see any doubling.

Kurrency Ken, this one has separation lines and notches, but it is somewhat subtle to see. Good magnification might be needed to see this one in hand, if you end up finding one. The separation line in the "B" of "LIBERTY" is the PUP (Pick Up Point) for this one.

KK, this is one that even tho is "Best of Variety" seems so minutely noticeable. I would call it a "MINOR" doubled die for it sure isn't obvious as one. It sure isn't one I would ever search for. And w the more I look at it I'm hard pressed to say it is a DDO and not a high bounce MD on freshly polished surface dies. (device edges would be sharper.) But then again, who am I to say?

I looked at the suggestion of WDDO-005 and can't really make it into that one. Can't not make it that one either, but it would have to have had the reverse changed to be a match. But with all those most excellent die markers all over the coin I think they might have been mentioned more clearly.

So I ran through every 1983 DDO on all three sites and came up with: nothing. Lots have similar doubling, and in hand the doubling on the 3 of the date is pretty clear so it is at least a LIBERTY and date but which one I have no idea.

So unless someone has more to go on than figured out so far it'll just have to go in my out pile to get looked at by probably Mr. Wexler.

While Liberty matches, the motto doesn't. Still need to match all the doubling.

Now I'm starting to wonder if it is WDDO-003. It looks very close, but the spread isn't there on the motto. Maybe circulation got to it?

The only other thing I can think of, is maybe it's a new unlisted Doubled Die for 1983? This will be the one to send in to Wexler for sure.
