A lamination isn't a particularly rare error, but on an earlier date Buffalo, I'd take it!

I wonder how it didn't get spotted and saved for such a long time, as the error is rather visible and just out there. But again being a collector I am not very good at relating to non collectors who would simply think, "all nickels are just nickels."

Matteproof: When I began collecting in the late 50's with my father, a lamination like that was considered damage to most collectors, a secondary hole filler at best. Those were usually tossed in the reject pile to be rolled up and taken back to the bank.

Also why so many coins have been cleaned...was the "rage" to have blast white Morgans and Walkers, so a lightly toned Walker in high AU/MS would get dipped, stripping the surface of original luster, but it was shiny and sold, were the "dirty" coin didn't. Sad but true.
