I have quite a few of the 1973 D LMC's that have the clash marks on the reverse but I don't have one with the bust on the obverse quit like this cent either. The back looks doubled and extends extremely close to the Y in LIBERTY. The back of his head where the hair should end on the field is extended as it were doubled as well. Is this a doubled die on the obverse that caused the clash on the reverse. I've read quit a bit on this subject and have found no definitive answers. I have also included pics of a normal 1973 D LMC. I am curious as to what you all think on this subject!

That's not a Die Clash. It's actually the Recurring Sunkin Die error. It's a mysterious form of die failure that affected 8 dies. http://www.error-ref.com/recurring-...dence-error/ http://goccf.com/t/305110

Ahhhhhh, makes sense on the reverse. Now, for the back of the bust on the obverse. Double or Die Deterioration Doubling?

Not sure on the bust, but I'll take a good guess. Maybe it's from a ober polished die issue?
