I found this 1972 P LMC and while I know for the most part they all for that year are doubled. This cent is a little different as it doesn't show that same common doubling that they do. The G is thicker at the bottom and while the pics didn't pick it up there is a slight notch on the east side of the devise. It shows notching on the O and extra thickness and notching halfway up it. The D shows slight notching on the east side of the devise. Is this just from DDD? The closest thing I can match it to is the DDO-005 but either I cant find the Die markers or circulation has smoothed them out. Could this be a different stage that there are no pics of? I am completely stumped and am in need of some insight.

I do not think it is a DDO. Looks like over polished dies on IGWT.

The good news is it's not MDD! Bad news is, ain't a DDO at lol. John1 has it, the outer bevel towards the rim has been polished down so that the depth of the upper device portions are skinnier.

Thanks John1 and Crazyb0! I'm thankful that I could recognize that it wasn't MD!! I pretty much have that down pat now as you guys have taught me that through trial and error

Jim, when referring to MDD on the 1972's, I always first look at the left uprights of the you and the D, if there is a doubling going NW on the U, and a notch in the D, That's usually MDD. Usually most folks look at the N, but I've been fooled by that one before!

It's a good example of a over polished die.
