On the forth picture, the ear is normal. It could be a well placed hit that pushed over and flattened the metal. If it's not that, then it could be Machine Doubling. These are just possible and reasonable explanations that I have. It doesn't mean that I'm correct though.

Looks like the glancing contact mark on the jaw area, made the hit on the bottom of the ear. Not a doubled die.

Maybe but that theory is 50/50 Mr. Coop cause the curve and the length of the ear lobe is totally said differrence.
