The glare from too much light is hiding what you are looking at. It you looking at the edge of the devices on one side, then it is probably Machine Doubling, not a doubled die. On the motto devices there is an issue with a polished die that make all the devices look thinner. No premium coin here. Keep looking.

Just spotted your question. Over polishing thinned the devices.

The devices on a die are tapered. Thinner deeper into the die, with at the top of the die. They are designed that way to allow the coins to slip off the die. When polished on the fields, it removes part of the wider part of the die (the fields) and make the devices thinner.

Thanks coop. Now what about the extra bar on the 2. Now I'm not arguing that this is a double but on some of the double dies for this year coin has that same "extra bar". Does it not apply to this one?

Coop is correct. There's a over polished die issue. The bar on the 2 of the date could be from Master Die Doubling.

You'll get there eventually at some point Cory. It takes a lot of time to learn all of this. I took me good couple of years to learn all of this.

Care to expound upon that, E&V? It is quite an open-ended deal.
