It appears to be some kind of token or medal...

Have you tried Google ?

Here's on on ebay...

Way over priced .... there is another for $8.85

Apparently this has come up here before.... in 2012. These were tokens given away at Gas Stations in the 1980s.

Description of this token at the Smithsonian: https://www.si.edu/object/nmah_1382272

Fortunately, the unusual spelling "MARTEN VAN BUREN" made it easy to search for (...after plodding through two pages of results about people actually named Marten van Buren, which there were more of than I expected).

EDIT: I suspect that the piece described in the old CCF thread might not be the same type as this one (but it's hard to say, as the photos are gone).

Van Buren was of Dutch heritage, so it is not far-fetched that his first name was originally spelled with an E instead of an I. He was raised speaking Dutch, making him the only American President to speak English as a second language. Food for thought.

to CCF. Reminds me of a medal that you would get from the Shell gas station when you bought a full tank of gas. There was a folder that you could fill up. In the future please crop and rotate your photos properly. Thanks.
