How can you tell it's been cleaned? Is there any website that I could check out on cleaned coins.

It looks like someone tried to clean something off where the dark spot is, lightening the areas on either side.

Color is off for a copper coin, as well as the odd pattern where someone tried to clean off the dark color.

As for links, the one posted by ijn1944 will help. Also, check out the link in my signature - no self promotion intended.
