Does the split serif say this is a doubled die?

Not sure with just the one photo you loaded. If your referring to the 1966 DDO F'S-101 yes there are serifs on the 966 of 1966 in early mid to late mid die state. The late die state examples show strong thickness and very faint doubling on date. The one constant on these is the RU of TRUST regardless of die state the doubling is discernible. Even in AU the doubling can be spotted on TRUST. In mid die state on MS Red and RB doubling can be seen on GOD WE TRUST and the eye lid.
I have examples of the 66 FS-101 in AU LDS, MS-RB EMDS, and MS-RD Mid die state and all of them show doubling consistent with their individual die wear. My 64 RD is very very different than my AU strength wise.
The 1966 is a love or hate variety, regardless of its popularity few are found and few come up for sale when they do their easily sold. Its IMO a under appreciated variety. For me the biggest puzzle is since the coin is known in 3 die states why havnt more been found? Look at the pics. on coppercoins.com and compare those to yours. Without seeing clear shots of the obverse I can't tell.

Probably because so many coins back then suffered so much Machine Doubling, it makes them confusing. But the reocurring thing to look for first is on the 'U' on TRUST.

If the 'U' doesn't look like that, then there is a big chance it not a DDO.
Looking at the date is confusing:

Machine Doubling, die wear and damage is a plague on most coins especially when they have been out there for 52 years.

As far a few of them have been found, most people look according to their lists. If it is not on the list, its tossed back into circulation.

It's not a Doubled Die. I can see well placed damage on the date.
